Nigeria: NDLEA Uncovers Illicit Drugs Packaged As Christmas Cookies, Arrests Distributors
NDLEA arrested masterminds and seized large quantities of cannabis and other drugs disguised as cookies, disrupting a WhatsApp-based syndicate, officials said.
- On Sunday, NDLEA said it dismantled a WhatsApp‑run drug network packaging narcotics as imported Christmas cookies, detaining two masterminds after a Lagos raid.
- Using imported consignments of Canadian Loud, the group marketed drugs on a WhatsApp platform and packaged them in colourful sachets, while officers intercepted 548 tramadol capsules hidden in vitamin bottles bound for the United Kingdom.
- During coordinated raids, NDLEA seized 9,900 capsules, 8,000 ampoules, 1,500 pills, 590 bottles, 110 pouches at Ladipo area of Mushin, and 100 grams in a teddy bear imported from Thailand.
- NDLEA recovered designer sachets and seized three delivery vehicles plus a black Toyota Highlander, registration ABJ 533 EA, linked to the network.
- Intercepted consignments showed international reach, with 548 tramadol capsules hidden in vitamin bottles bound for the United Kingdom and Loud concealed in a teddy bear from Thailand, NDLEA said.
