- On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Lagos convicted 10 Filipino sailors and the merchant vessel MV Nord Bosporus for importing cocaine, Justice Ayokunle Faji ruled under Section 25 of the NDLEA Act.
- NDLEA operatives said the ship was arrested on November 16, 2025 after intercepting the shipment that arrived from Santos, Brazil with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in the cargo, prompting a four-count charge in suit number FHC/L/1232C/25.
- The defendants were arraigned on Monday and the NDLEA said defence lawyers confirmed ongoing plea-bargain talks despite an initial not-guilty plea.
- The court ordered fines and restitution totaling $6 million and N1.1 million, with three principal officers each paying N100,000 and $100,000, while the remaining seven crew members paid N100,000 and $50,000.
- Marwa said the judgment marks a shift toward targeting financial bases of syndicates, and he called the conviction a 'resounding victory for the rule of law', praising Apapa Strategic Command officers.
