NDHHS recognizes International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Saskatchewan highlights leadership of persons with disabilities and advances accessibility plans under The Accessible Saskatchewan Act to remove barriers across public services.
- On December 3, the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors recognised the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and the Ministry said, `This day celebrates the contributions of persons with disabilities and reaffirms our commitment to building an accessible and inclusive province for everyone`.
- As required by The Accessible Saskatchewan Act, public sector bodies across Saskatchewan, including school divisions, post-secondary institutions, Crown corporations, and municipalities, have publicly released their accessibility plans this year.
- Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services provides support and advocacy for people who are Deaf, DeafBlind or Hard of Hearing and expressed gratitude for the government's recognition, pledging continued commitment to access and inclusion.
- The recognition calls for action, collaboration and accountability across government and communities, emphasizing provincial commitments to equity that support accessible spaces for people with disabilities through HSPRD and provincial agencies.
- The observance highlights that true inclusion requires more than awareness and reaffirms responsibility for justice and opportunity, directing provincial agencies and communities to the Accessible Saskatchewan website.

NDHHS recognizes International Day of Persons with Disabilities
More than 6,000 North Dakotans are currently receiving Developmental Disabilities Services. Since 1992, the United Nations has dedicated a day every year to increasing awareness about those who live with disabilities. For the last 33 years, December 3 has been recognized as International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

This afternoon, in the Vitral Courtyard of the Tlaxcala State Congress, a commemorative forum was held for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, with the aim of making visible, strengthening and giving a voice to this sector of the population.
