Pistons get major update on Jalen Duren's $200M decision as ticking deadline is running out
Duren can take Detroit’s $200 million offer, sign a $9.6 million qualifying offer or stay in restricted free agency, ESPN reported.
The deadline for Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren to accept a qualifying offer passed on Oct. 1, leaving his contract status unresolved as the team refuses sign-and-trade discussions.
Pistons management offered Duren a five-year, $200 million contract extension, but negotiations stalled over a reported "weight clause" that was later removed from discussions.
Duren, an All-Star and All-NBA performer, averaged 1.6 steals plus blocks last season; analyst Brett Siegel described the relationship between Duren and the Pistons as "very toxic."
Pistons GM Trajan Langdon stated the team remains excited to have Duren return, signaling the organization will not engage in sign-and-trade talks with interested franchises.
If Duren takes no action, he remains a restricted free agent, allowing him to continue negotiations with the Pistons as the franchise approaches the upcoming season.
