Minister of Defense Pistorius sees the construction of the Bundeswehr brigade in the NATO partner country of Lithuania on a good path. Everything seems to go according to plan, said the SPD politician during a visit to Vilnius. At the same time, Pistorius admitted during his visit to the first exercise of the Panzerbrigade 45 that not all 4,800 soldiers are expected to be recruited voluntarily.
The Bundeswehr continues to deploy troops to Lithuania to protect NATO's eastern flank. In total, the country plans to deploy almost five thousand German troops on a permanent basis by the end of 2027.
