Morecambe Are Operating Under Another National League Embargo
The club says the embargo stems from late budget information and not its finances, while the National League cited non-compliance with regulations.
On Tuesday, the National League placed Halifax Town under a transfer embargo. The club stated the situation is "very temporary" and relates to late financial information submission, stressing finances are "in good shape."
The National League website cites "non-compliance with league financial regulations" as the reason for embargoes. This prevents affected clubs from signing new players or altering existing loan terms.
Alongside Halifax Town, AFC Fylde, Aldershot Town, Altrincham, and Hornchurch received transfer embargoes on Tuesday. These measures are separate from other potential league penalties, including those for financial breaches.
Halifax Town explained the delay to the National League on Monday, requesting a submission extension until August 17. The club expects to provide required information by that date.
Seven clubs currently operate under embargoes, including The Shrimps. Ebbsfleet United remains suspended by the National League until August 19 following financial issues that resulted in an embargo imposed at the end of July.
