National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams to spend six more days in jail
The State is expected to oppose bail as prosecutors say Adams interfered in the Magaqa murder probe and obtained an affidavit implicating police officers.
Police arrested National Coloured Congress leader Fadiel Adams at his Pelican Park home in Cape Town on Tuesday, May 5, on charges of fraud and defeating or obstructing the course of justice.
Investigators allege Adams interfered in the 2017 assassination investigation of Sindiso Magaqa after visiting hitman Sibusiso Ncengwa at Westville Correctional Services in January 2025.
Armed police raided a Westridge, Mitchells Plain property on Saturday, May 2, searching for Adams, who claimed the operation harassed a family despite his legal representation and intent to cooperate.
Proceedings begin Thursday, May 7, at the Pinetown Magistrates Court, where the immediate focus will be on Adams' bail application as the State opposes his release.
KZN police official Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi previously alleged criminal infiltration of law enforcement; both Parliament and the Madlanga Commission are investigating these claims.
