Naperville Woman Gets 38-Year Prison Sentence For Fatally Shooting Boyfriend
Rosa Lagrone must serve 100% of her term after a jury found she fatally shot Darnell Manns during a dispute over another woman.
- Rosa Lagrone, 40, was sentenced Wednesday to 38 years in prison for the 2020 fatal shooting of her fiancé, Darnell Manns, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin announced.
- On November 6, 2020, Lagrone and Manns argued at their home in unincorporated Naperville over allegations he was dating another woman, when Lagrone fired a pistol striking his arm and spine.
- Following the shooting, Lagrone used Manns' Facebook account to initiate a live video call with the woman he was allegedly seeing while Manns lay "on the floor in a pool of blood."
- Lagrone must serve 100% of her 38-year sentence before becoming eligible for release, having remained in custody at the DuPage County Jail since November 8, 2020.
- State's Attorney Berlin stated, "Domestic violence continues to be a plague on society," noting the case carries "permanent, heart-breaking consequences" reflecting the county's intolerance for such behavior.
