Munie Scores a Goal, Gunn Has 4 Saves, Earthquakes Beat Dynamo 1-0
Munie’s first-touch finish in the 38th minute and Gunn’s four saves gave San Jose its second straight win.
On Saturday night, the San Jose Earthquakes defeated the Houston Dynamo 1-0, with Daniel Munie scoring in the 38th minute and goalkeeper Angus Gunn recording four saves.
Niko Tsakiris delivered a corner kick to Beau Leroux, who slipped a pass to Munie for a first-touch finish after Houston goalkeeper Jonathan Bond punched away the initial cross.
Despite the loss, the Dynamo controlled 60% possession and outshot San Jose 11-10, though the result snapped their three-game unbeaten streak.
Goalkeeper Gunn secured his second Major League Soccer shutout, both against the Dynamo, since joining the 30-year-old Scotland international signed on July 8.
This victory follows a 3-2 win at San Diego on Wednesday, which ended an eight-game winless streak and marked the Earthquakes' second consecutive victory.
