Coroner Identifies 3 Teens Killed in Laurel County Crash
Three teens died and one person was critically injured as sheriff’s office reconstructionists investigate the cause, officials said.
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, a single-vehicle crash on Somerset Road in London, Kentucky, killed three teenagers, according to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling east on KY 1956 when it entered a sharp right-hand curve, lost control off the left shoulder, and overturned.
The Laurel County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 17-year-old Landon Mullins, 18-year-old Duke Weddle, and 18-year-old Elijah Hammons; 20-year-old Joseph Cope was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
"In a moment's notice, there were three lives that were gone, and four lives that have been changed forever," said Gilbert Acciardo with the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the Laurel County Sheriff's Office and London City Police are examining evidence, including the vehicle's electronic data recorder, with information to be released as the investigation proceeds.
