Morrisons Sales Surge to £4.1 Billion in Strongest Growth for More than a Year
The Bradford supermarket chain said lower prices and volume growth lifted quarterly sales while cumulative cost savings reached £995 million.
On September 16, 2026, Morrisons reported a 3.2% increase in like-for-like sales for the 13 weeks ending July 26, marking its 15th consecutive quarter of growth with total sales reaching £4.1 billion.
CEO Rami Baitieh credited the growth to hot weather and the World Cup, which boosted demand during a highly competitive quarter. He described the group's performance as "robust," surpassing the wider grocery market.
Chief Financial Officer Goff reported £53 million in cost savings this period, bringing cumulative savings to £995 million. The company has proactively reduced debt by 46% since 2022 and maintains no near-term maturities.
With the launch of its "Unbeatables" price promise, Morrisons continues focusing on value to drive market share gains. The company currently employs around 95,000 people across its primarily freehold supermarket estate.
Morrisons reported a strong start to the final weeks of the financial year and remains well-prepared for seasonal demand including Halloween. The retailer expects to continue driving improvements while maintaining low prices for customers.
