The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has updated the population of Portugal to 11,424,031, reflecting the inclusion of 1,597,539 foreign nationals.

Portugal has almost 1.6 million foreign residents and more than half are men. Brazilian citizens continue to lead the list of nationalities present in the country, according to new data from the INE.
Despite the increase in the population resident in Portugal, achieved thanks to the entry of immigrants, the country continues to age. Number of people of age to enter the labour market does not compensate those who are of age to retire.
