More Nova Scotians add their names to petition calling for return of uranium ban
More than 10,000 people have signed a petition urging the Nova Scotia government to reinstate a ban on uranium mining in the province.
The opposition Liberals and NDP plan to present over 2,000 new petition signatures as the legislature resumes.
Premier Tim Houston's government lifted the ban on uranium mining in March 2025, but no uranium mining operations have started in Nova Scotia.
Cervin stated that the previous ban required stopping mining activities if uranium levels exceeded 100 parts per million, and this protection is now lost due to the repeal.
