Montcalm County sued after jail inmate’s death in 2023

The representative of a Montcalm County Jail inmate who died more than two years ago is suing Montcalm County in federal court, alleging civil rights violations. Atom Cozort filed the lawsuit on Sept. 11 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan on behalf of Gregory Cozort Jr., 51, of Greenville (Gregory was Atom’s father).
