MSU Rodeo Coach Plans Return After Wife’s Accident
The MSU Rodeo Chute Boss Club is preparing a fundraising page after Presley Whitaker was seriously injured in a horse incident and flown for treatment.
On Monday, Presley Whitaker, wife of Montana State Head Rodeo Coach Kyle Whitaker, suffered severe injuries in a horse-related incident in Bozeman and was flown to Salt Lake City for emergency treatment.
Kyle Whitaker described the accident on Facebook Tuesday, explaining his wife was dragged after a rope entangled her arm, which "broke her jaw and severed her hand." Surgeons could not reattach it.
Coach Whitaker thanked the "MSU Rodeo family" who arranged private planes to transport him and Presley to Salt Lake City, and praised responders at the scene who "handled it like pros."
The MSU Rodeo Chute Boss Club announced Tuesday night that they are organizing an official fundraising page to support the Whitaker family, while the team requested prayers for the couple.
On the same day Kyle Whitaker was named Big Sky Coach of the Year, the accident occurred; the university continues providing updates as the community rallies to support the family.
