Police arrested three accused after a mob vandalized over six homes and injured seven officers while protecting minority residents during hours-long violence, officials said.
- On Sunday , a mob vandalised and set fire to over half a dozen Muslim families' houses in Dutkaiya village, while a larger mob of several hundreds from Dutkaiya and adjoining villages attacked homes and vehicles.
- Three men, including one out on bail in a 2024 temple desecration case, allegedly assaulted four men Sunday, including an eyewitness of the Chaveshwar Shiva temple vandalism; Arif Khan had returned from Mana Juvenile Correctional Home that day.
- Police rescued about 20 residents by bus after reinforcements arrived by 9 p.m., evacuated a group of six or seven madrasa children, and seven police personnel were injured, including one with severe head injuries.
- Gariaband Superintendent of Police Vedvrat Sirmour said all three accused have been arrested and three cases registered, with police reinforcements used to control the situation.
- Police noted a manpower crunch due to the Rajim Kumbh, families who left after 2024 and later returned reflect lingering divisions, and at least seven security personnel suffered injuries protecting over two dozen people.
