‘Protect Your Family’: Suspect Left Black and Blue After Intruding Into Home of MMA Fighter

Henny used his mixed martial arts training and faith to control the intruder without weapons, leading to the suspect’s arrest and a $20,000 bond, officials said.

  • On Sept. 27 in Wilton Manors, trained mixed martial artist Henny Rojas subdued an intruder in his family’s home, confronting the stranger inside the living room.
  • The intruder, 31-year-old Austin Carasani, said he had been drinking and mistakenly entered the wrong home while trying to reach a friend’s house.
  • Trained for three years, Henny Rojas used boxing, wrestling and kick techniques to subdue the intruder and said, `I don't have guns; I wasn't looking for a knife- just God and my hands, that's it`.
  • As of Tuesday, Carasani appeared before a judge on Monday, was charged with home invasion, and remains in Broward County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
  • Rojas said he would not change a thing and that he acted to protect his family, adding `I don't feel pain- nothing`, while neighbors described the chaotic scene.
