Dodgers Catcher Will Smith Sidelined Longer as a Nagging Neck Injury Delays His Return
Manager Dave Roberts said Smith had a scan and will get an injection as the Dodgers try to avoid a setback.
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith remains on the injured list as his persistent neck injury continues to delay his expected return to the lineup.
Manager Dave Roberts said Smith had a scan and received an injection to minimize neck sensation; Smith continued baseball activities, including a full workout Tuesday.
"He feels OK, not great," Roberts said, as the team manages his recovery carefully to ensure he does not suffer a setback upon returning.
Although the three-time All-Star was scheduled to return Friday, the team will not activate Smith this weekend, delaying his comeback further.
Smith may not travel with the team for its road trip beginning Monday in Minnesota, leaving his status uncertain as recovery continues.
