Emergency crews rescue about 20 after a campground building collapses in Missouri flooding

- Intense storms dropped 6 to 12 inches of rain in 24 hours Thursday into Friday, a volume the National Weather Service called a "once-in-a-thousand-years" event; consequently, the Black River at Annapolis crested at a record 28.73 feet, surpassing the 1993 high.
- Rescue teams evacuated 160 people stranded at Camp Taum Sauk on the Black River; at nearby Bearcat Getaway campground, responders saved at least 10 people after a building collapse pitched campers into rising floodwaters.
- Iron County Sheriff Chuck Helton reported destroyed homes and washed-away vehicles, with gravel roads left in "bad shape"; however, officials confirmed no reports of injuries or fatalities despite the widespread damage.
- Meteorologist Alex Elmore warned that an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain could exacerbate conditions through late Friday, potentially returning the region to "worst impacts" seen earlier. A flood watch remains in effect through Saturday for saturated Missouri areas.
