Jets Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick Leaves Early with a Groin Injury vs the Titans
Minkah Fitzpatrick was ruled out after a groin injury, and rookie Omar Cooper Jr. left with an ankle injury.
On Sunday, the New York Jets ruled out All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. during their Week 1 game against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium.
Acquired from the Miami Dolphins in a March trade, Fitzpatrick signed a three-year, $40 million contract to bolster a secondary that allowed 216.1 passing yards per game in 2025.
Reports stated Fitzpatrick was seen "grabbing at his groin" before departing after six snaps, while Cooper Jr. set up an early touchdown with a 30-yard catch-and-run before his injury.
Veteran Andre Cisco replaced Fitzpatrick in the lineup, while cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. exited with a calf injury, forcing Dane Belton into the slot to address secondary depth challenges.
Despite these early setbacks, the Jets secured a 23-10 victory, though uncertainty remains regarding the long-term health of these key contributors as the season progresses.
