Romania expects Friday, October 2, 2026, the evaluation of the S&P Global Ratings agency, an important decision for the state's financing costs. The country currently has the BBB- rating, with a negative outlook, the last step in the recommended category of investments. A retrograde would place Romania in the speculative category, known as "junk", in the S&P evaluation.
Interim Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare said on Thursday evening that, despite the political crisis and a government with full powers, Romania is not in a position to be unable to pay pensions and wages.
S&P Global is due to review Romania's credit rating on Friday, which is on the lowest step of the category "investment grades", with a negative outlook.
