- Referencing a previous comment by Supreme Court Justice Dipankar Datta, Moitra stated she "faced them as a freedom fighter faced bullets" after the incident. Justice Datta had questioned her fear of eggs while hearing her petition to appear virtually before police.
- Since the BJP came to power in West Bengal on May 4, TMC leaders including TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and MP Kalyan Banerjee have allegedly faced similar harassment with eggs and stones.
- Previously, Moitra moved the Supreme Court seeking virtual appearances after a BJP leader filed a complaint alleging her remarks hurt Hindu sentiments. The High Court has listed the matter for October 1 to review ongoing safety concerns.
