Pentagon Data Breach of Military Personnel Raises National Security Concerns
A notification letter said the breach may affect about 4 million Defense Department personnel, and the agency offered one year of credit monitoring.

- The Defense Department is offering affected individuals one year of credit monitoring through IDX, while Gen. Paul Stanton, director of the Defense Information Systems Agency, is leading a "cyber hunt" to evaluate systems for additional vulnerabilities.
- Justin Sherman, CEO of Global Cyber Strategies, warned adversaries could pair stolen information with commercial datasets to target personnel based on earnings, debts, marriages, and spending habits.
- While the Pentagon currently "does not have any indications of misuse," the DMDC remains "the one, central access point" for military benefits and medical readiness information for personnel and veterans.
