Germany is training volunteers with no prior military service to expand its defense capabilities. The program, pictured at a training ground in Baumholder, is a notable step towards Berlin's goal of creating a reserve force of at least 200,000 by 2035.

BAUMHOLDER – The Bundeswehr anticipates an increasing number of reservists who did not serve as soldiers before. "We have 200,000 reservists to set, that is the political requirement," said Florian Kracht, head of the Competence Centre for Reservist Affairs of the Bundeswehr, on the margins of a troop exercise in Baumholder in Rhineland-Palatinate (Kreis Birkenfeld).
