Sony Is Reportedly in Talks for a Battlefield Movie From Christopher McQuarrie and Michael B. Jordan
Christopher McQuarrie will write, direct and produce, while Michael B. Jordan is attached to produce and potentially star.
- Sony Pictures has emerged as the frontrunner to land the Electronic Arts Battlefield film package following a multi-studio bidding war. The project features Michael B. Jordan as producer and potentially star, with Christopher McQuarrie attached to write, direct, and produce.
- Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Universal, and Netflix were among major studios and streamers that submitted bids for the package earlier this year. The competition reflects surging industry demand for video game adaptations.
- Filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie will helm the project alongside producer Jordan. Additional producers include Electronic Arts' Jesse Stern, Emerald Neon's Carter Swan, Vertigo's Roy Lee and Miri Yoon, and Outlier Society president Elizabeth Raposo.
- Battlefield 6 became the best-selling first-person shooter of 2025, outselling Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in domestic sales for the first time in nearly a decade. This commercial dominance motivated Electronic Arts' Hollywood push.
- Paramount is concurrently developing its own feature film adaptation of rival Call of Duty, with director Peter Berg and writer Taylor Sheridan attached. The competing projects position both franchises for theatrical showdowns.
