Miami Hurricanes Going Back to Nike in Deal that Will Exceed $200M, AP Source Says
On Wednesday, the University of Miami Hurricanes agreed to a 10-year, $200 million deal with Nike, ending their 12-year Adidas partnership starting with the 2027 football season.
This agreement ends a 12-year partnership with Adidas that began in 2015; the Hurricanes previously maintained a long-standing relationship with Nike from 1987 until 2015, marking a full-circle return.
Valued at more than $20 million annually, the Nike deal significantly exceeds the roughly $6.5 million paid by Adidas. Roughly $13 million will come in cash, with the remainder in apparel.
Head coach Mario Cristobal, who led Miami to the College Football Playoff last year, helped secure the deal. Former player Alonzo Highsmith and ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit praised the transition on social media.
Cristobal formerly coached at Oregon, which maintains strong ties to Nike headquarters. This lucrative agreement positions Miami as a premier destination in collegiate apparel, cementing the program's resurgence.
