Mexico rescued, on Thursday, 16 Cuban migrants who were on a driftboat and from which there was no news since last week, reported a source from the Mexican Navy to AFP. The boat departed from the province of Pinar del Río, west of Havana, on August 11, and its whereabouts were unknown since then, according to Cuban and United States press vehicles.
The Mexican Navy confirmed on Thursday (August 20) that it had successfully rescued a Cuban smuggling boat that went missing at sea last week. The boat carried 15 people, including four minors. The illegal immigrants had been adrift at sea for several days with almost no supplies or fuel, but were fortunately all rescued safely.
