- Given Manaea's injury-plagued 2025 season, the Mets opted for a five-man rotation early because of schedule and roster depth after acquiring Peralta, Mendoza said.
- This spring, Manaea allowed four earned runs on seven hits and two walks across 9T innings with nine strikeouts, and Mendoza said 'the velocity drop did not factor into the team's decision' to start him in the bullpen.
- The Mets' early rotation lists Freddy Peralta, David Peterson, Nolan McLean, Clay Holmes and Kodai Senga, with a reevaluation before nine games that could add Sean Manaea to a six-man rotation; Manaea's bullpen role won’t determine carrying Bryan Hudson or Richard Lovelady.
- Looking ahead, Manaea, who has built up to around 60 pitches, will be used flexibly and may make future starts, Mendoza said.
