Housing and health dominate the concerns in a country where the place of residence still makes a lot of difference in the quality of life, as shown by the new Barometer of Cities, published this Tuesday by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation (FFMS).
According to Barometer das Cidades, of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, released this Tuesday, 29, the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon (AML) stands out as the region where residents reveal greater general dissatisfaction and in various dimensions of urban life. Health and housing are criminalizing factors, but also noise, air quality and urban cleaning.
Although lower than in other European cities, the satisfaction of residents is high in Portuguese cities. AML has the most dissatisfied, with houses and transport among the major concerns.
Seven out of ten Portuguese are satisfied with the cities where they live, a value below that recorded among the citizens of other European cities. Dissatisfaction increases mainly in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, where problems related to housing, mobility, pressure on public services, the urban environment and a lower sense of community are accumulated.
Residents in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon are the most dissatisfied with the city, noise, pollution and public transport.
One third of the Portuguese are dissatisfied with the cities where they live, and the residents of the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon show greater dissatisfaction, according to an inquiry by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation released today.
