Wild New Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Brings 637bhp V8
Mercedes-AMG says the 30 hand-built cars are already sold, and the rear-wheel-drive V8 model uses carbon fiber and track-focused chassis changes.
- Mercedes-AMG has debuted the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, an extreme limited-run model serving as the second entry in the automaker's exclusive Mythos Series.
- Built on a modified CLE53 platform, the rear-wheel-drive Spezialanfertigung weighs 4,178 pounds, shedding 375 pounds through carbon fiber bodywork, a lighter battery, and polycarbonate windows.
- The engine generates 637 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, propelling the vehicle to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds via an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
- AMG partnered with KW Automotive on a four-way adjustable steel coilover suspension, while the car generates over 550 pounds of downforce and ceramic brake discs.
- Only 30 hand-built units will be produced with all already sold; Mercedes has not disclosed pricing, though estimates suggest each costs at least $500,000.

Mercedes-AMG has taken the CLE far further than it allows a conventional preparation with the new 646 Spezialanfertigung. This version of only 30 units, part of the platform of the CLE 53, but employs a 646 hp biturbo V8, rear drive, about 170 kilos less weight and a deeply modified bodywork. It is approved for road, although much of its development looks directly towards the circuit.
This is the second model in the exclusive Mythos series. All 30 examples, which will be hand-built in Affalterbach, were sold out before their world premiere.
