A cross-party group of members of the Bundestag wants to start a new attempt to change the rules at the organ donation. The solution to the contradiction could help save lives. However, a majority for the motion in parliament is rather unlikely.
"Silence doesn't automatically mean consent," says the chairman of the German Foundation for Patient Protection. He opposes the presumed consent system for organ donation. A renewed fundamental debate is looming in the Bundestag – a cross-party group led by SPD MP Dittmar has presented its draft bill to introduce the presumed consent system.
