Melissa Grelo Departs 'The Social' as CTV Daytime Show Becomes a Video Podcast
Melissa Grelo is leaving to focus on her health and wellness podcast as the daytime series shifts to a livestream format with three continuing hosts.
- On Wednesday, CTV announced that The Social will transition to a video podcast format in its 14th season, with co-host and moderator Melissa Grelo departing after 13 years.
- Grelo, who co-hosted the series for 13 seasons, said the show was one of the "great privileges of my career," but is leaving to focus on her own health and wellness podcast, Aging Powerfully.
- Executive producer Laura Scarfo said the reimagined series will be filmed on the Toronto set without a studio audience, allowing it "to expand and reach Canadian and international audiences."
- Hosts Jess Allen, Andrea Bain, and Cynthia Loyst will continue to host The Social while the show remains on "hiatus" until it returns on Sept. 9 in its new format.
- Future episodes will stream live on YouTube at 1:00 p.m. ET, followed by an immediate broadcast of the recorded one-hour episodes on CTV at 2:00 p.m. ET.
