An Alberta farm is home to Beef, the world’s tallest steer
Beef stands 1.95 metres tall and weighs 1,100 kilograms, surpassing the previous record by one centimetre, according to Guinness World Records.
- The Guinness Book of World Records announced Beef, the steer, as the world’s tallest living steer at 1.95 metres, after officials measured him two years ago.
- Jasmine Entz said she first noticed Beef as a slimy, scrawny newborn and friends suggested his size was record-worthy, which Beef confirmed earlier this year by outgrowing his trailer.
- Beef eats about 45 kilograms of hay daily, costing $400 a month, and last year he finished a pickup full of pumpkins in three hours.
- Entz recalled riding him by age two, and Beef now grazes with Josie, a white cow with black speckles, Talent, a horse, and more than 50 miniature goats.
- This report by The Canadian Press covered Beef's Guinness recognition, and Jasmine Entz said she had been told steers never stop growing and observed Beef still growing earlier this year.
