McKee signals end to two decade Scottish public sector compulsory redundancy ban

Ministers said cuts could come through natural attrition and voluntary severance as they seek to close a £4.7 billion budget gap.

Ivan McKee has seemingly signalled the end of a near two-decade ban on compulsory redundancies in the Scottish public sector, telling MSPs the measure could be used as a last resort for workers who cannot be redeployed.
