A Relaxed Rory McIlroy Says He’s More Motivated than Ever After Masters Repeat
McIlroy says he is more motivated than ever after back-to-back Masters wins as he returns for a four-tournament stretch.
World No. 2 Rory McIlroy returns to action at this week's Truist Championship at Quail Hollow in North Carolina, his first tournament since securing back-to-back victories at the Masters almost a month ago.
Describing his post-Masters break as "less hectic," McIlroy spent time with wife Erica Stoll and attended a White House State Dinner with President Donald Trump and King Charles III before resuming practice.
The favorite at +600, McIlroy has won four times at Quail Hollow, where he earned his first PGA Tour victory 16 years ago and is often serenaded with the "Happy Birthday" song by fans.
McIlroy feels "more motivated" than ever heading into a major stretch that includes the PGA Championship next week and the U.S. Open next month at Shinnecock Hills.
Having faced criticism for his Masters Champions Dinner menu, McIlroy is considering changes for next year, though he remains focused on the road ahead with "a lot of my career left.
