McIlroy fightback falls short as Clark rallies to win
Clark birdied the final three holes to win his third PGA Tour title and move to third in the FedExCup Rankings, officials said.
On Sunday, August 23, 2026, Wyndham Clark won the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, finishing at 17-under-par 263 to defeat Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay.
After McIlroy tied for the lead through 15 holes, Clark maintained composure while McIlroy bogeyed the 17th, allowing Clark to birdie the 16th, 17th, and 18th holes to reclaim control.
Shooting a final-round 70, Clark claimed the $3.6 million winner's pay cheque, while McIlroy finished alone in third place after his putter went cold during the closing holes.
World number one Scottie Scheffler secured the $23 million FedEx Cup bonus despite finishing tied-12th with illness, while Cantlay finished runner-up to advance to the Tour Championship.
The PGA Tour season concludes next week at East Lake in Atlanta, where the FedEx Cup winner is crowned and Clark, having qualified for the Presidents Cup, seeks final momentum.
