MBDA Successfully Validates New Teseo Mk2/E Anti-Ship Missile for Italian Navy

The missile adds an AESA RF seeker and satellite datalink, with first deliveries targeted for 2028, MBDA said.

  • The MBDA TESEO MK2/E successfully completed a validation firing for the Italian Navy, confirming the missile's overall design and range during an approximately 20-minute piloted cruise flight.
  • Development began under a 2021 contract with the Italian National Directorate of Naval Armaments, followed by a production agreement in 2025; a 2024 firing had validated initial missile components and aerodynamics.
  • Designed for integration aboard Italian Navy PPA, DDX, FREMM-class, and Horizon-class vessels, the system features an Active Electronically Scanned Antenna seeker and satellite data link for enhanced targeting.
  • Extended range allows launching ships to remain further away from defended targets, increasing stand-off distance for crews and enhancing operational safety across the Italian fleet.
  • MBDA targets first delivery in 2028. Renzo Tosini, Executive Vice President Sales and Managing Director of MBDA Italia, stated the result will "guarantee a unique sovereign capability to Italy.
