The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is in the second phase of its development process to improve rail passage from Boston to Albany, through Pittsfield. The West-East Rail is all part of the Compass Rail Plan, which is described as a goal of enhancing mobility and expanding choices of transportation through this investment.

MassDOT to hold public meeting on next steps for West-East Rail

The Oct. 6 meeting will mark the start of a two-year Service Development Plan examining what it would take to make improved passenger rail service from Boston through Pittsfield to Albany a reality.
