After an 0-5 Start, Marlins DFA Right-Hander Chris Paddack
Paddack went 0-5 with a 7.63 ERA in seven starts, and Miami recalled William Kempner to add depth to the bullpen.
On Tuesday, the Miami Marlins designated veteran pitcher Chris Paddack for assignment, ending his brief stint with the club after struggling through seven starts this season.
The team cut ties after Paddack surrendered six runs in the first inning against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, concluding his tenure with an 0-5 record and 7.63 ERA.
Signed to a one-year, $4 million deal in the offseason, Paddack also received up to $500,000 in performance bonuses while logging 30 2/3 innings with 41 hits and 26 earned runs.
In a corresponding move, Miami recalled right-handed pitcher William Kempner from Triple-A Jacksonville to add bullpen depth with a fresh arm.
For the rotation spot on Friday, the Marlins can choose from prospects Robby Snelling and Braxton Garrett at Triple-A Jacksonville to face the Washington Nationals.
