Marine Corps Meets 2026 Goal with over 31,000 New Recruits
The service also added 1,672 officers and 3,503 prior-service reservists as recruiting conditions improved, the Corps said.
- On Thursday, the Marine Corps announced it met its fiscal year 2026 recruiting goal, enlisting 31,250 new recruits. This marks another consecutive year of achieving its annual target since 1994.
- Driven by a high volume of interested applicants and strong retention rates, the Corps described fiscal 2026 as "the most favorable" recruiting environment in five years. The country's 250th birthday partly contributed to this favorable climate.
- Beyond enlisted recruits, the Corps added 1,672 new officers and 3,503 prior-service members to the Marine Reserve forces in fiscal 2026. Commanding General of the Marine Corps Recruiting Command Maj. Gen. Walker M. Field credited the success to the "disciplined execution of our elite recruiting force."
- Across the department, the Navy added 45,112 new sailors and the Army enlisted 61,500 soldiers in fiscal 2026. The Air and Space forces also succeeded, enlisting 31,950 airmen and 730 guardians, contributing to a department-wide rebound.
- The service has already contracted enough recruits to meet about half of its fiscal 2027 mission, establishing a strong start for the new cycle. This early progress positions the Marine Corps to maintain its consistent record of meeting annual recruiting objectives.
