Global leaders laud PM Modi on historic 25-year leadership milestone
Leaders praised his 25 years in office as the Union Cabinet passed a resolution and BJP events marked the milestone nationwide.
On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked 25 uninterrupted years as head of government, a political journey that began with his oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001.
Transitioning from his 13-year tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister to national leadership in May 2014, Modi implemented his "Nation First" principle across three consecutive Lok Sabha mandates.
Official resolutions credited his governance with lifting around 25 crore people out of poverty while expanding the national highway network from about 91,287 km in 2014 to over 146,000 km.
Global recognition accompanied the milestone, with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu calling it "a rare achievement in any democracy," while Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi praised his "outstanding political leadership."
Supporters reaffirmed commitment to the "Developed India @ 2047" vision, aiming to leverage collective efforts to ensure a prosperous and self-reliant nation by mid-century.
