Manchester United academy sensation steals show with European hat-trick as historic debut edges closer
On Thursday, fifteen-year-old Gabriel scored a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut as Manchester United defeated Sabah 5-0 at Leigh Sports Village.
Compared to Wayne Rooney by Ryan Giggs, Gabriel built on 28 goals across 35 appearances for Manchester United U18s last season, continuing his prolific trajectory.
Playing the full 90 minutes, Gabriel opened his account at half-time before completing his treble with two late goals as United dominated with 44 shots to Sabah's 0.
Gabriel is now eligible for Premier League selection after turning 15 before August 31, with Michael Carrick noting, "JJ is a big talent," emphasizing patience in development.
While eligible for domestic play, Gabriel is not on the club's 25-man Champions League A list; he could join later if United reaches the knockout stages or via injury replacement rules.
