Manchester Airport flights delayed ‘due to hole in the runway’
On Saturday evening, Manchester Airport suffered widespread flight delays, with travel service Inrix reporting average delays of fifty minutes for departing flights.
While Inrix cited a 'hole in the runway,' an airport spokesperson said, 'One of our runways closed for a short period' to allow routine maintenance.
Ryanair and EasyJet passengers experienced significant disruptions, including a service to Cork delayed by almost two hours and a flight from Paris Charles Gaulle arriving late.
Arrivals from destinations including Cairo, Palma, Amsterdam, Belfast, Munich, Alicante, Cologne, and Copenhagen also ran behind schedule, affecting numerous passengers throughout the evening.
Despite the Saturday evening disruption, flights scheduled to depart on Sunday morning were not showing delays at the time of the latest update.
