“If that Makes Him Happy, that’s Him" - Club President Opens Door for Chelsea to Hire Liam Rosenior Replacement
Como president says the club will not block Cesc Fàbregas from taking Chelsea’s vacant job after five straight league defeats.
On Friday, Como president Mirwan Suwarso said the Italian club will not block Cesc Fàbregas from leaving to become Chelsea's head coach, adding he would not stand in the way if the Spaniard wishes to join the Premier League side.
Chelsea is searching for a new manager after sacking Liam Rosenior on Wednesday, just 106 days into a five-year contract, following a 3-0 defeat at Brighton on Tuesday.
Fàbregas recently received the Bearzot Award from Italy's Football Federation after steering Como to promotion; the former Chelsea midfielder spent five years at Stamford Bridge as a player.
Despite the links, Fàbregas committed his future to Como, telling the press, "I think I'll continue as Como's coach," while describing the rumors as "unimportant."
Plans are in place to allow Fàbregas to maintain his equity in Como should he move to London, as the club does not own him; his contract runs until summer 2028.
