Man who killed 3 siblings in drunk driving crash sentenced to 8 years minus time served
Lehouillier pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death and bodily harm after a crash that killed three children and injured three others, court records show.
On Monday, Justice Kimberley Crosbie sentenced Ethan Lehouillier to eight years in prison for the impaired-driving crash in Etobicoke that killed three siblings—Ramone, Jace, and Mya Lavina—on May 18, 2025.
Driving at 168 km/h with more than double the legal alcohol limit, Lehouillier, 19 at the time, ran a red light, hit a median, and struck the family's stationary Chrysler Pacifica near Highway 401.
Ramone and Jace Lavina died at the scene, while their six-year-old sister Mya died later in hospital; Akash Paladugu, Jade Galve, and their 10-year-old son Avery survived with injuries.
Justice Crosbie also imposed a 20-year driving prohibition, effective for 12 years after his sentence ends; with credit for time served, Lehouillier has approximately six years and five months left to serve.
Calling impaired driving a "scourge of our times," Justice Crosbie questioned why ignition interlock devices are not mandatory, suggesting one would have prevented the deaths of Ramone, Jace, and Mya.
