Man injured after police shooting in suburban street
A 27-year-old man was shot after threatening police with a knife at a Logan Central shopping centre; he remains in critical but stable condition, police said.
- On Saturday about 6pm, police shot a 27-year-old man at the Carmody Centre car park in Logan Central, police said.
- Officers were called to Ewing Road after reports of a man armed with a knife and making threats, and police located him on top of a damaged vehicle at the scene.
- Responding officers gave first aid on site before the man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital; a crime scene was declared and police said no officers or other members of the public were injured.
- The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the shooting with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission, and Logan District Detective Acting Inspector Jason Kitto said he expected charges, calling it 'tragic circumstances'.
- This is the third police shooting in Queensland this year, following a March 3 welfare-check shooting in Tingalpa and another incident the next day on the Sunshine Coast.
