Man duct-taped on American Airlines flight diverted to BWI says he doesn’t remember incident
Layne Lundeen said he drank two screwdrivers and cannot remember the flight disruption that led to duct-taping, diversion and assault charges.
- Arizona realtor Layne Lundeen appeared in a Maryland court following his arrest on September 3, when American Airlines Flight 618 diverted to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport after he was restrained to his seat.
- Witnesses reported that Lundeen "became increasingly unruly" on the flight, allegedly spewing profanities and racial slurs while seated next to author Jonathan Cahn. Police allege he struck an officer at BWI while being removed.
- During the proceeding, Lundeen told District Court Commissioner George Haag, "I don't remember any of what happened." He claimed he was traveling to help his daughter move into a new apartment and celebrate her birthday.
- Long Realty "promptly ended its affiliation" with Lundeen after learning of the allegations. Commissioner Haag released him on his own recognizance, ordering abstinence from drugs and alcohol pending trial on October 19 in Anne Arundel County.
- Lundeen faces charges of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Images and video of him restrained to his seat went viral earlier this month, drawing national attention to the incident.
