Man Charged with Murder After 'Caring' GP Found Dead at Home
Police say a man in his 40s has been charged and remanded as the GP’s family seeks privacy.
On Sunday, Dr. Hannah Cain—professionally known as Dr. Hannah Terry—was murdered at her home in Dersingham near the Sandringham Estate; Grimston Medical Centre remains closed for a second day as investigations continue.
Cain, a GP for 8 years and a qualified doctor for more than 15, described herself as a "caring and professional doctor" while maintaining her medical practice alongside running Norfolk Sky Aesthetics.
Following the discovery of the body at her Fern Hill home, police arrested Mark Cain on suspicion of murder and applied to Great Yarmouth Magistrates for a warrant allowing an additional 32 hours to question him.
The Crown Prosecution Service decided to prosecute Mark Cain for murder following the investigation, while Grimston Medical Centre apologized for the disruption, stating, "We apologise for the disruption and appreciate your patience and understanding."
Mark Cain has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, October 7, while patients with appointments will be contacted regarding alternative arrangements as soon as possible.
