Man charged over death of girl, 9, found seriously injured on industrial estate
Police say the 35-year-old suspect knew the girl, and officers are not looking for anyone else as inquiries continue.
A 35-year-old man has been charged following the death of a nine-year-old girl at the Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath, Scotland, after emergency services were called late Sunday.
The girl and five family members from West Yorkshire, including four children and one adult, were found injured at the site while camping in the area; police are treating the death as suspicious.
Authorities confirmed the suspect and the child were known to each other, and he is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today, Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Detective Inspector Mike Ness of the Major Investigation Team stated officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death and urged the public to contact Police Scotland on 101.
Floral tributes have appeared at the estate as Councillor Lois Speed, who represents the Arbroath East and Lunan ward, said the community is in shock at what has happened.
