Colorado Fire-Bombing Suspect Pleads Guilty to All State Charges
He faces up to life in prison without parole, while prosecutors weigh whether to seek the death penalty in the federal case.
On Thursday, Mohamed Sabry Soliman pleaded guilty in Boulder County District Court to murder and other charges stemming from his June 1, 2025, firebombing attack in downtown Boulder.
Investigators allege Soliman targeted a pro-Israel rally on Pearl Street, tossing Molotov cocktails at roughly 20 participants while yelling "Free Palestine!" to harm the demonstration attendees.
The attack killed 82-year-old Karen Diamond and injured a dozen others, with prosecutors identifying 29 total victims who were targeted or nearby during the firebombing.
Soliman faces life in prison without the possibility of parole for state charges, though he maintains a not-guilty plea regarding separate federal hate crime charges.
Defense attorneys argue the attack "was profoundly inconsistent" with Soliman's prior conduct, while federal prosecutors allege victims were targeted for their connection to Israel.
